Engr. Awolokun had her early education in Ekiti in the then Ondo State. She proceeded to the Federal School of Science, Onikan Lagos and ended up at the University of Ife (Obafemi Awolowo University) where she bagged a B.Sc. in Electronics and Electrical Engineering.
Awolokun joined the then National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) for her Youth Service in 1978 and after the completion of her one-year programme; she was employed by NEPA. While on her pupilage, she worked in various departments such as Meter and Instrument (Ikeja District Office), Power System Planning and Electrical Engineering Department.
In 1981 shortly after her pupilage, she was posted to Power System Planning Department as an Electrical Engineer to plan and carry out short term studies to determine how the system should be reinforced to avoid projected inadequacies and prepare reports with recommendations for action.
Engr. Awolokun ascended the ladder steadily. She was promoted to Senior Electrical Engineer in 1983 and bagged another promotion in 1986 as Principal Electrical Engineer still in the Power System Planning Department. She was involved in providing load forecasting input and carrying out computer studies to analyze long term alternative expansion plans. She was also the Technical Liaison Officer between NEPA and other related organizations like the Energy Commission of Nigeria, the steel companies, petrochemical industries etc. She was further promoted Senior Manager (Distribution), Lagos Zone. There, she was saddled with designing, costing and preparing reports relating to major 33KV network alternations among other major assignments.
Engr. Awolokun has worked in different capacities over the years such as the Principal Manager (planning) in 1998, Abeokuta District Manager in the year 2000, and also as Asst. General Manager (Distribution), Ibadan Zone in 2003.
Her sojourn in the power industry has spanned almost three decades. She is a professional to the core, registered with COREN in 1984. She is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE). In the course of her duties, she has attended many local and international courses and seminars in the U.S, Germany, Sweden, England and the prestigious Lagos Business School just to name a few. Engr. Awolokun is representing Ekiti South.
